Nemanja Šarbajić
Nemanja Šarbajić was born in Sarajevo in 1979. He completed his education predominantly through self-tuition and in constant exchange with fellow artists and musician friends. Together with Constanze Zacharias and Tobias Talbot, he founded Alte Apotheke in Langensteinbach, a collective for young artists and an exhibition space enjoyed by people of all generations. From 2005 to 2008, he attended the Braunschweig University of Fine Arts and studied with Friedemann von Stockhausen and Nicola Torke. Alte Apotheke later became Studio Nordbecken, an atelier in the industrial area of the Karlsruhe Rhine harbor and the venue for Nordbecken Festival, a week-long multidisciplinary event that takes place every year.
The origins of his works are comparable to voyages of discovery, during which he conducts experiments on the canvas using various painting tools. The starting point is found materials, such as paints, pencils, varnishes or soil.
