Carolin Heel
Curation and artistic mediation
In 2023, Carolin defended her dissertation on gender-specific artistic identity at ABK Karlsruhe. There, she also worked as a freelance member of the Equal Opportunities Commission and organized the two-day symposium against abuse of power, "Talking Back. Speaking Out Against Discrimination." At the intersection of academia and practice-oriented teaching, she led the seminar "Art and Gender" at AdBK Karlsruhe and regularly teaches the interdisciplinary seminar "Language and Poetics" in the Master’s program "Body, Poetics, and the Practice of the Performative" at ABK Stuttgart. With a focus on affect and emotion theory, her research interests include gender, language, and visual theory. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the DFG-funded project "Visual Education" at the University of Hamburg. Additionally, she has specialized in academic management within research institutions to develop sustainable infrastructures connecting practice and academia. She is particularly interested in the intersection of art, academia, and politics. For ato, Carolin represents the artists Daniele Dell’Eva, Valentina Jaffé and Jordan Madlon.
